Our story - key dates  

Sicagri Bretagne existed before clock auction markets in 1961! This experience has been invaluable and allows the team to have a very strong relationship with its customers.

 1911   

Creation of Sica UMAC (origin of Sicagri Bretagne) and the Central Office of Mutual Agricultural Services of Finistère (origin of Coopagri Bretagne).


 1958   

Establishment of the Artichoke committee:
first movement of the vegetable producer
organization. Then, little by little other
produce (cauliflower, potato, etc.)
committees were established.



 Novembre 1961   

Wholesalers signed an agreement with the producers' organisation to ensure commercialisation. The basis of the Breton organization, Prince de Bretagne was established.

 1965   

The association of groups of Breton producers became CERAFEL
(Comité Economique Régional Agricole des Fruits
et Légumes de Bretagne
- Regional Economic Agricultural
Committee for Fruit and Vegetables of Brittany)



 1956   

Establishment of the Cooperative of farmers from Côtes- du-Nord (now Côtes d'Armor) and Finistère.

 1961 March the 24th   

First sale by auction using the countdown clock system (Dutch system) at the sites of Saint-Pol de Léon, Paimpol and Saint-Méloir des Ondes, ensuring transaction transparency between the producers and wholesalers ("shippers").


 1961   

The producers create their own marketing association: the Saint-Pol de Léon SICA. They were soon followed by the producers of Ctes-d'Armor who created the U.C.P.T. (Union des Coopératives de Paimpol et de Tréguier - Cooperative Union of Paimpol and Tréguier) as well as those of Ille et Vilaine and their SIPEFEL. The Breton vegetable producers created a favourable context for the composition of an regional organization allowing dialogue, common to all the groups.


 1966   

The Farmers' Cooperative of Côtes-du Nord and Finistère became the Farmers'Cooperative of Brittany: Coopagri Bretagne.


 1970   

Birth of the Prince de Bretagne brand.
